Definition of Child Abuse and Endangerment

As defined in California Penal Code Section 273(a), the crime of Child Abuse and Endangerment involves intentionally and deliberately causing injury to a child, or placing the child in circumstances where he/she could have been harmed. The latter applies to situations where children may have been in a car with an alleged drunk driver, in a location where a methamphetamine lab was operated, or otherwise were exposed to the risk of serious bodily harm.
